History: ‘I play drums ever since I can remember, although my early musical education focused mainly on classical music. At home my parents didn’t make a distinction between styles. But they did make a clever distinction between good and poor music. Eventually I became totally hooked on the phenomena of ‘groove’, the essential ingredient of good Jazz, Pop & Rock music. Each song has it’s own groove. This is what makes the message of a song come across and makes people move. My career spans a couple of decades now and I’m still as thrilled as I was as a teenager. The Baarn Project is one of the most fun projects I do.’
His connection to The Baarn Project: ‘Max and I knew each other already before I discovered his music through a friend who hinted on a collaboration. He appeared to be a singer/songwriter with a signature. And the songs keep pouring out of him, we can hardly keep up with arranging & producing them. Max’ music appeals to me for several reasons, one of them being the typical american sound -somewhere between soul pop, country and westcoast rock-. I wouldn’t be surprised if our productions appeal to fans of the great ‘70s & 80’s artists like Doobie Brothers, Tony Joe White and/or The Eagles.’
About TBP’s Music: ’We are collaborating with arrangers, producers, musicians & studios belonging to the creme-de-la- creme of the Dutch music scene. My focus is to optimize the ‘jacket’ of each song so it comes out like a pearl and really fits Max’ voice & style. Our first album ‘Memories’ just came out and in my humble opinion represents a convincing collection of songs written and sung by an interesting and engaging singer. What more can you wish as a producer.;-)’
Future plans: ‘Since last Fall we are collaborating with Dutch arranger/producer Patrick Drabe. He is behind a number of Dutch projects and artists like Lo van Gorp, Desray, Jan Kanis and The Brooklyn Rhythm & Blues Band. His influence on TBP is already visible and audible thoughout the video’s we issued under the name of The Baarn Project goes Under Cover, streamable from youtube. These recordings will soon be released as an EP. Next Spring we aim to deliver the next album. And in the mean time were looking into gigging and a first serious concert tour.’
